Q: What time do PTA Afterschool clubs run from?

A: PTA Afterschool clubs run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00pm-4:30pm.

Q: What time of year do PTA Afterschool clubs run?

A: These clubs run in three different blocks generally ranging from October-December (Fall), January-April (Winter), and April-June (Spring). Exact dates vary by year.

Q: Do afterschool programs run on days that school is not in session (planned or unplanned) or gets out early?

A: No, only regularly-scheduled full school days have PTA Afterschool clubs. A full list of club meeting dates will be provided at registration time.

Q: Which grades are eligible for PTA Afterschool club enrollment?

A: Kindergarten through 5th Grade students are eligible for enrollment.

Q: Can I change which club my student is enrolled in or withdraw from the club?

A: One exchange of club per student is allowed prior to the second club meeting. Students may be withdrawn from clubs, but there are no refunds made after the first club session.

Q: What types of clubs are offered by the PTA Afterschool program?

A: The clubs for each block are created by staff prior to the registration window opening, and as such are not set or the same each block/year. Some examples of PTA Afterschool clubs that have ran in the past include: Minecraft Club, Soccer Club, STEM Club, Flute Club, Coding Club, Spanish Club, Running Club, etc.

Q: Can I sign up for more than one club per block? What about mixing PTA and External Afterschool programs on the same day?

A: Yes, students may be enrolled in one PTA club per day of the week. Certain External programs may allow for mixed enrollment if they go past the PTA club end time. Check with the External club organizers to see if this is possible.

Q: What do PTA Afterschool clubs cost? How can I sign my student up for a club?

A: Costs vary based on the number of sessions in the registered block. Please visit the PTA website and check your email for messages from our Parent Coordinator for more information about how to sign up.

Q: Are there availability limitations for clubs?

A: Yes, clubs fill up at a maximum of 20 students. Enrollment is first come, first served. Please have a backup club in mind in the case that you are unable to secure a spot in the first club of your choice.

External Afterschool Programs

Yorkville Afterschool
Yorkville Youth Athletic Association (YYAA) is our 5 day a week program on site at PS 59. The program runs from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm and is offered to Kindergarten through 5th grade. Please visit the Yorkville website here for more information and to sign up.

PS 59 Chess Program
PS 59 Chess Program is on site at PS 59 on Mondays and Fridays. The program runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm with an option for late pickup and is offered to Kindergarten through 5th grade. Please visit the ICN website here for more information and to sign up.

Vanderbilt YMCA
Vanderbilt Y offers a pick-up service at PS 59. Staff from the Vanderbilt Y will pick up children from PS 59 and walk them down to their facility on 47th Street.
